Odette Alvarez – Creative Director – Odette Álvarez
The women’s prêt-à-porter brand Teté by Odette was created in 2009 in Santander by Odette Álvarez Garzón, and its name, Teté, comes from the affectionate nickname that the designer’s loved ones have used for her since childhood. From a young age, Odette developed an interest in fashion thanks to the work she saw at home, guided by her mother and grandmother, who always designed and made their own clothing.
The significant step towards professionalization came when the self-taught designer realized that her style fascinated her friends so much that they all insisted on buying and wearing clothes identical to the ones she designed and made for herself. It was then that she decided to make a dream come true, which today provides jobs for more than 60 people; produces two collections a year, along with various capsules and special editions, distributing more than 1,500 pieces annually. Currently, the workshop and headquarters are located in Santander, the city where she resides.
“For me, starting this adventure from scratch and achieving all that I have has meant a lot. I believe it is what I am most proud of, doing what I love and having my work recognized. It’s true that it has required a lot of effort, but today it is a reality. I am, of course, grateful to my team and to everyone who has believed in my project, for making Teté by Odette a recognized and recognizable brand today.” – Odette Álvarez. Excerpt from the book titled Cántabras, nuestro legado. Publisher: Media Luna.
Since 2013, when she presented her first collection titled Amore, Teté by Odette has developed a total of 21 collections, with Ethnics SS 2020 being the first to join the official calendar of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, in the off-schedule program, with a show held at the Wellington Hotel in Madrid. In September 2022, the brand presented the Selena Spring 2023 collection, also at the Wellington Hotel in Madrid.

After ten years in the fashion world as the creative director of Teté by Odette, the Cantabrian designer took another step in her professional career with the creation of this new label, conceived as the brand’s first line, which will be custom-made, handcrafted, and produced in limited editions.
